"At the beginning of the week, Makka Pakka was looking out from lampposts all over Kentish Town. But by last night, after a Town Hall U-turn, there was no sign of the little fellow – to the great relief of local traders.

"They had been angered when posters of the squeaky, stone-collecting character from 'In The Night Garden' appeared on large posters along Kentish Town Road, promoting a live production of the popular BBC programme for toddlers, which is currently being staged at Brent Cross Shopping Centre.
