[Reposted from Dec 2011: 1960s video!] Matrix: "£1m refurbishment of Brent Cross Shopping Centre Car Parks"

Link to Matrix web site

"When Brent Cross Shopping Centre opened in 1976 it was the first stand-alone shopping mall in the UK. [No, it wasn't. The Bull Ring, Birmingham (see Pathe video) and sauf London's Elephant & Castle were.] It was initially constructed in an dumbbell shape, running east-west parallel to the North Circular Road, with the two largest stores (John Lewis and Fenwicks) at the ends.

"... By adopting [our] approach, we are able to successfully work in retail park, shopping centre and supermarket surroundings, without negatively impacting on footfall or parking space availability."
