HAMMERSON is a "REIT THREP in't STEANS" (We've been saying THAT for years)

"REIT" - 'real estate investment trust'

March 2008:
[A period when Hammerson was also concerned with the Brent Cross Cricklewood planning application]
"ON a bitterly cold, brass monkey-type Saturday morning, I visited the Sevenstone (formerly known as the Heart of the City) Public Exhibition to check out the city centre evolutionary delights that the developer, Hammerson, has lined up for us.

"I could've really done without it! Because I have to confess that I saw absolutely nothing there to cause either the quickening of my pulse or the skipping of a heartbeat.

"I was looking for a project with some serious attitude. Something that grabbed me by the short and curlies, and dared me not to be impressed. Sorry, but whatever it is that the Sevenstone stuff has, it's definitely not attitude."

Sheffield Telegraph:
"Sign retail quarter deal, or move on, say business leaders"
"Business leaders in Sheffield are urging the council to tie up a deal for the long-delayed Sevenstone retail quarter - or to move on with another developer.

"If London-based Hammerson is not prepared to commit immediately, the authority should look to another company to pull together the type of shops that the city centre needs to compete with other places, including Meadowhall, it is argued.

"The comments from Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Council reflect further frustration over the failure to tie up a deal."

Meanwhile, down in London, ...

"Work forges ahead at Bishopsgate Goodsyard"

"A design team including PLP Architecture and FaulknerBrowns has been chosen for the first phase of the Bishopsgate Goodsyard development, with future phases, including a proposed high-line style park, still up for grabs.

"The 4ha site, which sits on the City fringe alongside Shoreditch High Street station, is being developed by Hammerson and Ballymore, with Farrells appointed as masterplanner.

"Rob Allan, project director from Hammerson, said:
"Architectural quality was a key part of the project. ... With its sheer scale and the importance of the site, it’s giving us an opportunity to create something really special."
