"Boris Johnson today called on the Treasury to hand over £1.3 billion a year in London stamp duty receipts to fund a massive house-building programme in the capital.

"The Mayor wants to wrest control of tax revenues from property sales from George Osborne, to address a chronic lack of affordable housing. He warns that London faces a housing crisis, unless one million homes are built in 25 years."
