Daily Telegraph: "Plans to rebuild London riots furniture shop abandoned"

"The owners of the furniture shop which burnt down in the London riots have given up on plans to rebuild the site as they complain Croydon still bears the scars of the attacks on the second anniversary of the disorder.

"Graham Reeves, who helps run the family business, ... has returned their lease to The Whitgift Foundation, who own the remaining area where the shop once stood, as the majority site owners refused to rebuild.

"Mr Reeves said that said that The Whitgift Foundation are reluctant to redevelop the furniture shop until wider plans for the area are in place, as the roads and area surrounding Reeves Corner are expected to change thanks to a £1bn joint venture from retail developers Westfield and Hammerson to transform Croydon town centre."
