"Hundreds of new flats to be built on the site of London’s oldest brewery are likely to be bought by 'rich and middle class Chinese' buyers, its new Asian owners said today.

"The Ram Brewery — where beer was first produced in 1576 — and seven acres of land in the heart of Wandsworth have been sold to a state-owned Chinese developer in a £600 million deal unveiled this morning.

"The site will be turned into a new 'town centre' [oh, yeh?] with 661 new homes, shops, bars and restaurants. The scheme also includes a 36-storey landmark tower with 166 flats."
