"... In the concluding chapter of his justifiably acclaimed book, City economist Russell Jones puts his finger on the danger to society inherent in modern finance. He writes:
"There is no doubt that the shortcomings and failings in the basic architecture of financial intermediation [bankers are crooks] can encourage predatory and destructive tendencies if not grotesque distortion in the allocation of capital and resources and huge costs for society as a whole when these distortions unwind."
