"Even an extra day at work failed to help
Britain’s struggling builders in May as construction output sank again,
official figures showed today.
"Steve McGuckin, the managing director of the construction consultant
Turner & Townsend, said:
"What began as a dip has become a dive.
There have been some signs of life in the private sector, and many still hope that it will ride to the rescue of a construction industry that has been hit hard by the decline in public spending. However, these figures clearly show that it hasn’t happened yet."
